At Morgan Guitar Studio, students are given a strong foundation in classical technique which can enable them to play at a higher level then guitarists without it. Many famous guitarists that have played other kinds of guitars (steel string, electric) have sought classical instruction because they knew that it would give them a valuable edge in ability.
While learning at Morgan Guitar Studio, students learn how to read standard notation. The focus is not on chord charts
or tablature, like some other types of guitar lessons (although those can be covered briefly so that you understand them). One of the many advantages to learning standard notation is that it is used in various forms across instruments. If you have experience in other instruments, imagine what it would be like to use “chord charts” or some kind of notation that nobody else uses when there’s a common alternative. It would be crazy, right? So, as a classical guitarist, using standard notation, you are becoming a more well-rounded musician overall. The knowledge you gain can often be used on multiple types of instruments, and you’ll be able to communicate more effectively with other musicians.
WHY A CLASSICAL GUITARIST FOR A CLASSICAL GUITAR TEACHER?
Unfortunately, there are many teachers that will claim that they can teach you classical guitar. The problem is, they aren't actually classical guitarists. A real classical technique is something that requires specializing in order to teach it. That difference is very important, because it allows a classical guitarist to play music that other types of guitarists just can't play. So don't fall for the generic "guitar teacher, teaches all styles" claims. They might mean well, but in the end, only a person that has specialized in classical guitar is in a position to teach it to you effectively.
